Does that Student Loan price tag make sense?

The cost of going to school has already skyrocketed out of sight. The truth is, all those "schools" that advertise for a degree in things like Retail, any kind of Design, including Fashion, or Video games, are trying to lure in inexperienced and well-intentioned high school students who may believe they are headed down a normal path to a spectacular and fun career. Possibly. These types of schools are in the business of making MONEY. The amount a student, entering school now has to pay for this degree has nothing to do with Fiscal Responsibility. Which are pretty tough and boring words to an 18-year-old ready to sign away the first 10 or 15 years of their post-college life. Anything that seems that far away, may as well not even be real to a teenager. But the fact is, a student loan payment for a degree that costs the student $150,000, will probably be a $1,500 a month payment. For 10 years. Right now the job market is extremely tough, and a degree in something that seems fun will not be paying the bills. Entry level pay for the arts fields, or retail, Women's studies, or even Architecture, hovers somewhere around $10 an hour. Which means, after taxes, working full time, you will not have enough to pay this student loan. Forget about shoes, rent, food, a car, a pet, kids, ANYTHING ELSE. I find it extremely dishonest for colleges to sell these degrees and swindle the youth into these arrangements that aren't affordable. Like credit card companies, who are another operation students should be warned about, they are just leading people down a path to disaster. This isn't even the American Dream, graduates will not able to afford, this is Basic Necessities the graduates are not being able to afford.
It used to be, in the past, a student could pay for themselves to go through school by working evenings and weekends, those days are long gone.
High school students can look at the best return on their investment. For anyone serious about college, they can do whatever it takes to qualify for scholarships, and sign up for any and all scholarships. Here's a list of the highest paid jobs in the U.S.

Our government is based on opportunists who always are looking for ways to profit at anyone else's expense! I am in default for a semester of college and owe about a zillion dollars! Now I am on disability and had really counted on a stimulus check...so much for that...it paid a drop in the bucket of interest on the loan:( -

a lot of students do two years (the first two years of required courses) at a county school and then the final two or three years at a university. ALL THE CLASSES TRANSFER as long as they have an associates degree in humanities (that degree is the equivalent of required classes at ALL UNIVERSITIES). also study abroad, is actually a college consortium. same teachers same university same experience same classroom, the students who sign up through a county college for study abroad PAY ONE TENTH of what the students pay through private universities. lol. you have to know the system. there are lots of back doors as well for some of the BEST universities in the country.
but should it be this big game and practically a fulltime job finding all of this stuff out? no. our system is ridiculous. higher education should be free just like it is in europe and canada. all they pay over there is a fee for a copy of the books. i couldn't believe how much cheaper it was for them. and they pay room and board of course, so do we. i know someone right now who owes 125,000 in student loans and he isn't even done with school yet!! -

yeah I know a couple people that owe over $100,000 that's now the going rate for a graduate today. It's totally SICK! I am counseling my son on how to be debt-free by age 30 provided he doesn't have kids LOL
