Hi Mamob, I am starting to quilt. At least going to try. I am working on a sorority t-shirt quilt walk hanging for my daughter now and going use my sewing machine.
This past week when were at my MIL I received a quilt top she had made, the batting and the bottom material, now I have to assemble it. I didnt know wether to get a wooden loop and do a section at a time or just pin it all together and go for it on my sewing maching, I bought a new quilt series sewing machine.
I know not to use quilting thread in my sewing machine, so should I juse a polyster thread or cotton thread?
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks/ -

I use quilting thread in my sewing machine and also a quilting machine needle. I have used just about every type of quilting frame , from hand heald to floor stand type and all them have their good and bad points. I have done hand quilting and machine quilting. I have had better luck keeping wrinkels and pucker at bay ,by basting at lot of basting when quilting in a hoop. iItape down the back on the floor or on big folding tables and then place the batting andf the top . I smoothe out the batting and tape is to hold it in place and tape the top then I baste the layers to gether starting in the middle and working my way out to the outside edges.in all directions like a cross. my basting stitch is like dot dash when i get the quilt in the hoop i start in the middle if basting gets in the way it is easy to clip it and pull it out as you go
