Scared Still - A Self Portrait.....
Scared Still
After all this time Looking through the mirror
I am scared; still Standing shocked
Expressionless Lonely I go a calling
Looking to find some answers When all I hear is the empty
echo within the wind I'm scared still After all this time
Scared still Trying to make things rhyme
I'm scared still Don't know which way is up
All of the time I'm scared Still
Deep into my years My body goes an-aging
Envisioning my fears My life like an open book
I constantly go a paging
Even after a second look
Still searching for nothing
Wishing it was something
Only to find out I'm scared; still I'm scared still
After all this time Scared still
Trying to make things rhyme
I'm scared still Don't know which way is up
All of the time I'm scared; still.

Okay - that's six weeks from now. WIth Halloween and Thanksgiving and all the other stuff going on, I think that's a reasonable amount of time.
For the next topic, I am combining a few different ideas I've heard from people over the last few days.
1) had to do with contrasts
2) was a self-portrait
There were others, as well, and all were good, but I can't really use everything or it will get too complicated again!
My thought was this:
Show a contrast between your life right now and your life as a child. You can do this in one piece, or in two separate pieces. Your "self-portraits" can be very concrete and realistic or completely abstract or symbolic. Show the contrast using line and color, or movement and stagnation, or any other method that suits you.
You can post visual art pieces in the "Photos" section of this group. Be sure to put the words, "Contrast piece" in the title when you post your work. (If you have more than one piece, number them in the title line, so people know "Contrast piece 1 of 2" for instance." Then, put a link from that posted artwork (Copy the http line from the top and past it) here in this discussion. With the link, include your name and any other information you want about the piece(s).
Poetry or other written work can be posted here, in this discussion post. You can also post a link here to a piece of music or other expression of the topic, here in this discussion post.
Questions, comments and suggestions are always welcome.
This should be a topic that can really help us get to know each other. I look forward to seeing what you all come up with!

This Song....Into my heart is a repost......I know but it is the only contrasting piece I created.
It's relevant about the topic at hand. It contrasts my feelings I felt as a kid and as the feelings
that I currently feel as an adult.....so whoever didn't see it before and is new. Enjoy this piece of
artwork.

Into My Heart
Get out of my head
And Go into my heart
Look deep inside
See my world torn apart
All of the deep sadness that I tried to hide
Is out of my head
And into my heart
One time I had lived
A life of pure bliss
It was in that brief time
Those moments I miss
At that split second
I had my first kiss
It went out of my head and into my heart
Get out of my head
And Go into my heart
Look deep inside
See my world torn apart
All of the deep sadness that I tried to hide
Is out of my head
And into my heart
My winter grew colder
Through time I got older
Enclosed in this storm
Without you no warmth
Had no where to go
Tossed into the snow
I was out of my head
And into my heart
Get out of my head
And Go into my heart
Look deep inside
See my world torn apart
All of the deep sadness that I tried to hide
Is out of my head
And into my heart -
