Resveratrol and anti-aging products?
Posted on 12/29/08, 06:12 pm
Do they work? Is the research there to so prove it? What aging factors should be addressed by the products? If we start living 10 or 20 years longer how will that affect our retirement plans?

I've tried it. It didn't work.
I'll give you my peep, since you asked.
Nothing in the world is going to make a vast deal of change or difference without actually changing the diet to a healthier one, eating lots of greens, vegetables and fruits, and a little whole grains, raw nuts and seeds, and very little fish, eggs, and maybe poultry, and less red meat. Cutting out the pop, alcohol, fried foods, juck foods, processed foods, canned foods, cured meats, bacon, french fries, products that call themselves ice cream when they are so full of diglycerides and other crap that if you left it in the bowl long enough, it would flatten and dry into a disc. Cool whip, pure junk.
Once you get your diet in order, you may find that you don't need any supplements. If you have a virus, like me, you may continue to need some, not sure yet, the jury is still out. I do know I don't need as many as I did a couple of years ago.
Along with that diet, you'll need to drink lots of pure water, eat only Real unrefined Salt, no white sugar, white flour, white fat in meats, no dairy unless it's organic and/or non-gmo.
You'll also need to exercise! This is crucial to keeping the bad cholesterol LDL down and the good HDL cholesterol up. You'll also need to get a good night's sleep, or wenever you sleep if you work swing or grave.
You'll also need to let go of bitterness, judgement, resentment, fear, hatred, hostility and regret. Replace them with love, acceptance, forgiveness, assurance, hope, and friendship.
Then if you're still feeling like you want to give resveratrol a shot, go ahead, it won't hurt you.
PS, I have no intention of retiring, what is that anyway, being tired again? LOL -

I agree with much of what MAK1AH writes and would add the family genes as important. I feel that science can be a tool in our improved health and we would be wise to listen/learn from good science. I have felt the differences that the Shaklee resveratrol product produces. So have lots of people I know. I have seen the science and it looks quite good to me. Just like different brands of calcium don't dissolve in water in less than an hour some resveratrol products are less than ideal.
