Does anyone belong to an AA group that considers itself an Alano group?
How do Alano groups run?

Alano is short for Alcoholics Anonymous or a Club that has Alanon and AA meetings . Alano Club 53south 3rd West , Murray Utah -

I think Alano groups are supposed to be those groups that create a corporate entity in order to run a bunch of AA groups out of. I will have to look it up on the internet. -

The Alano clubs in my area are designed to look and feel like bars. They are open till 2 AM and sell pop & snacks just like bars minus the alcohol. They have pool-tables, pin-ball machines and juke-boxes.
They are so much like bars that most sponsors don't recommend them. -

Gim there are at least 3 Alano Clubs the Detroit area and 2 more near Port Huron.
I sometimes go to to them for Back-to-Basic meetings. When I said most sponsors don't recommend them I was being generous with my words. Most sponsors demand their sponcee's stay away from them.
They are full of con-artists, pool-sharks and 13th stepers. Lots of old-timers say they were bilked for money while trying to sponsor guys their. -

LOL! We dont have these in GB. Seems a shame I was quite a good pool hustler and I'm quite skint at the mo. They sound a real nice place to find sobriety. -

The one I was talking about has no pool tables, card playing or anything that's talked about here. Cost 8 bucks a month and 20 meetings a week. What can I say. 21 Don't forget the one in Pontiac -

twenty, you have to use common sense. I have never heard that before from any old timer. You have to get out and experience the changes and differences in meetings especially held at an Alano Club.
Oh yea, what's the difference between the individuals attending your home group and those in Alano Clubs? NOTHING! Just the same con artists, thieves, and liars who may have changed.
