Suboxzone is a drug used to help stop using Heroin. I know of two people that used it. One person used it for a vey long time. Had to be weaned off. But she is doing very well . Gave her a new start. THe other used it for a short time. Never used it correctly and it was a big waste of time. Maybe it was the fact the one person really wanted to stop using. the other wasn;t ready. Anyway it only works if they take it the way its prescribed and really want ot stop. they still have to fight the urges that they experience. NOT A CUREALL

    Hi Caris-

Suboxone is an opiate antagonist. It actually blocks dopamine receptors in the brain and makes opiate cravings stop. When an active opiate addict tries to use while on Suboxone--they don't get the "high" from the drug that they are looking for. Or at least that's the general idea. Please come to the prescription drug abuse forum here on DS and ask any questions you want. A lot of us are on opiate antagonist medications for our narcotic painkiller addictions. Most of us have had great success in our recoveries.

    Take care!
