  Hi Everyone, I am new to the group. I am so glad to have found you. I am 41 and have been dealing with alcoholics all my life. Mother, Father, Grandmother, Uncles, Aunts, all the way down the line. The relationship between my mother and me has been straind for years because of her drinking. The anger has built up for years and I am so afraid that some day it is just going to unleash itself and then Lord have mercy. I need to find an outlet for that anger because I don't want that day to ever come around. Thanks for listening and I look forward to talking to you all.

  Hi everyone, I'm brand new to this site and I was definitely excited to see this group. I am 25 years old and have been surrounded by alcoholics my entire life. It seems so many of my childhood memories involve alcohol, just that it was always there (even before I really knew what it was), someone was acting irrational because of it, or someone not being around because they were busy with that darn bottle. One of my grandfathers passed away in 2004 as a result of alcoholism, my grandmother's alcoholism has progressed since his death, my other grandfather is heading down the same path, as are my mother and step-father. I admit I have a lot of anger towards my family, though I'm trying to deal with it, and make absolutely sure my son never has to experience the things I did. I'm sorry to vent for a minute, but as I'm sure you all understand, it just comes out sometimes. Anyway, thanks to all of you who are in this group, good luck to you and your loved ones, and I hope to talk to you soon!

  I'm Jennie and new to this group. I grew up with an alcoholic father and it wasn't a pleasant childhood. A lot of it I have blacked out and tried to forget. I just hope that I can be a better parent than he was. I haven't had a drink in 6 months due to health issues and blame him for most of my depression. I pray every day for a better day than yesterday.

  i welcome myself into this group i think it will be great to see others take on the whole view of having parents/parent alcoholic... this 'devils blood' has ruined much of my life and now seeps into my world and i having trouble controlling it and saying NO.
