ADL CENTER / EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER UPDATE

Posted by dsoucy - 02/23/09, 03:44 pm
Hello Everyone,As promised, I wanted to update everyone to the amount of nominations ADL Center has gotten for Extreme Home Makeover. To date we have received 6 nomination letters so far.  We are working very  hard on getting the application, and video completed by the end of this month.  If you haven’t written your nomination yet, please take just a few moments to do so. I cannot stress enough, how much this makeover would benefit hundreds of families and our community at large, both economically and service wise. Just a few moments of your time could make all the difference in whether or not we are considered and awarded the makeover. With hope and faith, Diane L. Easier Extreme Home Makeover Request

Posted by dsoucy - 02/17/09, 11:02 pm
Easier Extreme Home Makeover Request 11:36amHi everyone,
As you may recall, I posted a letter last week asking for your help with nominations for ADL Center to get an Extreme Home Makeover. After printing out the application, I realized it is a 20 page application! To ask my friends and family to fill out such a lengthy series of forms just isn't right. I barely have the time to fill it out myself, and many of you wouldn't have all the necessary information to fill out the application in it's entirety ( a rule- lest we be disqualified). So after a discussion with ADL's Executive Assistant, Kristy Thorpe, we decided that she and I would fill out the application and include letter and email nominations with it along with our video. The goal is still the same, to have 50-100 (preferrably 100) nominations. If you could find it in your hearts to take a few moments to compose an email or letter to help us it would be greatly appreciated. In your letter, please be sure to say why you wish to nominate us, and why you feel it would be good for the community and the economy. I bring up the economy because by opening the doors at ADL Center, we will be creating a minimum of 75 jobs, ranging from maintenence, to teaching staff, to medical staff, to recreational staff positions. Not to mention the parents of children coming to our specialized preschool and before and after school program will also be able to get back to work. Won't you please take a moment and help ADL Center achieve it's goal to help families?
Nominations should be forwarded to

Diane Soucy
dsoucy@myadlcenter.org or

Krisy Thorpe
kthorpe@myadlcenter.org

Subject line should read "Nomination for Extreme Home Makeover"
We will keep you updated weekly with how many nominations we have received. We thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely,
Diane L. Soucy

ADL Center / Extreme home Makeover

Posted by dsoucy - 02/10/09, 10:23 am

Many of you know that I am trying VERY hard to open a center for families, children and individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Maybe what you don't know is that in this economic crisis our country is having, grant monies and appropriations are even harder than ever to get. Funding for programs like ADL Center are being cut and making the grants tougher to get, if at all. So, it is with fierce determination that I reach out to you all, my friends and family on ADL's behalf.
We've all seen Extreme Home Makeover, and daydreamed about them coming to our homes and giving us a makeover. MY daydream is of them coming out to help me build a center for ADL. To design a beautiful building on a 25 acre lot, to accomadate all the opportunities afforded to families and individuals reaching out to ADL for things like therapy, social gatherings, employment training and transition assistance into adulthood. Someplace people can go for the day to day family fun stuff like swimming, and movies and worship services. A place where income is not a requirement for services, but a place that opens it's doors and hearts anyway it can to welcome someone.
I am hoping that you, my friends and family, will help me by writing to Extreme Home Makeover, and nominate ADL Center for help. The more letters and vidoes they receive the better our chances of getting their help. It wouldn't take much time to do and you would be helping me, and hundreds of families like my own, so very much. I'd like them to receive at least 50-100 nominations by the end of this month. How could they ignore that many nominations for one makeover/building project? Someone over there would say "hmm, that's alot of requests to help one organization..."
Please help me achieve this goal of nomination requests, and if you haven't visited ADL Center's website, please do so @ www.myadlcenter.org, and see our mission and vision. Look at the services we want to provide, view our News and media clips.
Once you have submitted you nomination on ADL's behalf, send me a message titled "I nominated ADL Center" and I will list the names on facebook and Daily Strength for everyone to see, that way we can keep a tally of just how many nominations we've submitted. I thank you all in advance and feel free to spread the word to have anyone you think might be interested in nominating us send a request as well.
