I have never tried Zyprexa, I sure hope that you feel better after taking it. When are you starting? So your paranoia, etc only lasts during the week before your period? That is really intense, I do not have it that bad but it was bad enough that I pretty much just sat on the same spot on the couch for three days and only moved to sleep and pee. Thats when I knew I needed a medication.
Have you seen a psychiatrist to see if perhaps this is something outside of PMDD that is simply affected by hormonal changes?

Hi all,
I suffer from severe PMDD. My life is divided between when I'm happy healthy and normal, and when my PMDD symptoms take over. My symptoms include all the "normal" PMDD stuff: Depression, Anxiety, Nervousness, Mood shifts, Irritability, unfounded Anger, Avoidance of social situations, Difficulty concentrating, Fatigue, Appetite change, Insomnia or sleeping too much, etc...
However, my doctor says my PMDD is the most severe she has ever seen because it also includes: Paranoia, Inability to judge passing of time, severe mental Confusion, and Temporary loss of short term memory such as unable to memorize a short list of as little as five things. I know all this is caused by my menstrual cycle because when I'm not on my period or in the week before my period I don't have any of these symptoms. So its like I switch back and forth between being normal and being mentally ill depending on my cycle. My doctor is having me start taking Zyprexa in about a week, when my symptoms start for this month. Zyprexa is an antipsychotic so I'm looking forward to trying it since I do have psychotic thoughts when I'm in my PMDD (like if I wear my running shoes I'll die today but I won't die if I wear a different pair of shoes)
So have any of you tried Zyprexa and what do you think of it?
Do any of you PMS members have PMDD as severely as I do? If so please send me a friend invite!

Yep I'm with you there InMyTree. I used to have trouble looking at people in the eye. This would slowly get worse and worse then on the day of my period I would look up. I would have uncontrollable intrusive thoughts all with paranoid basis. Inability to remember anything, especially appointments and work commitments. I even had a moment where I misjudged the amount of food I needed for a function, it was so embarrassing and I have never done anything like that before. I started to think my PMDD was so bad that I needed to be on disability benefits. On top of that, it gave me insomnia.
I know how you feel, really I do. I don't think people understand how much you cannot control this stuff and they think you should just snap out of it. I had doctors who got quite impatient with me. I was given prozac (but yuck, headaches etc), cipramil (even worse, migraines, rages) now they just give me a bit of valium for when I really can't cope.
But I am doing so much better now. I can't tell you what a relief it is to have my life back. xxx -

I have tried Zyprexa but it gave me more than 24 hours sleep straight and with hang over, bad taste in mouth...etc. I don't think it helps me at all for mood wings BUT it did help on psychotic things like crazy thought, illusion, voices...etc. I am thinking of taking YAZ, seen the commercial on TV, wanted to try right away as anti-depressant (cirpralex/Lexapro) is not working for me anymore on PMDD. I just cried my head off last night....once period was over....weird hormonal change. I hate it. ARRRRGH!
