Giving Hugs to Members

Lesson 7: Giving Hugs to Members

Step 1 | 2 | 3 | 4

DailyStrength is best known as a place where giving and getting hugs is a daily occurrence - the way the world should be! And you can give more than just a hug. There's chicken soup for a sick friend, and chocolate for a friend that just completed a goal. An "I'm With You" for those moments when you really relate to someone, and a Prayer for those who are truly in need of one. Even if it is a virtual hug, the thought and the heart is still there, and trust us, it feels just as good.

Step One: Decide who you are going to hug!

Hugs are public shoutouts which post to other members' Hugbooks to let them know you're thinking of them, or that you wish them well. Hugs are public, and anyone who can see a member's profile can read their Hugbook.

Anytime a journal entry touches you, or you want to make sure a member knows that you're there for them, or even as a fun hello, DailyStrength members send hugs!

There are a few different places you can send hugs from.

If you have a person in mind already, visit their profile page. In the top right corner, there will be a link to "Give A Hug." When you click on it, you will be presented with all the hugs you can give that person!

If you are reading someone's journal entry, you can give them a hug from that page. Journal entry pages have a link to hug the writer at the bottom of the entry. If you don't see the icon, that person may have changed their privacy settings to disallow that. But if you see the Hug icon, you can click it and send that person a hug!

If you are reading someone's goal page, you can send them an encouragement! Encouragements are the same as hugs, except they will also show up on that person's goal page. On the left hand side of the page, you will see a place where you can send that person an encouragement. It will appear on that page as well as in that person's Hugbooks. A great way to let people know you're there for support!
