Lesson 4: Uploading and Sharing Photos

Keeping a journal is a wonderful way to share your world with your DailyStrength and non-DailyStrength friends, but sometimes there are things you just have to see to believe. Your photo album is a great place to store your photos that you would like to share. Label your photos with captions, receive comments, even insert them into your journal entries! Think of your DailyStrength photo album as your own personal scrapbook of memories.

Step one: Make sure your photos are less than 1.5 MB, and they are .PNG, .JPG, or .GIF format.

Make sure your photos meet these requirements-- if they are larger than 1.5 MB or if they are any other format, they will not be uploaded to your photo album.

To check the size of your photos, you can usually right click the file and click "Properties" if you're on a PC, and "Get Info" if you're on a Mac. This action will also tell you if your photo is in one of the correct formats or not.

If you find that your photo is too large, you can always "shrink" it down to a smaller size by using photo editing software. For PC, FastStone Photo Resizer is a wonderful free tool that can shrink your photo with advanced resizing options. On a Mac, Preview has a feature that can resize your photos as well in the Tools menu (OS 10.5 and above).

We won't go into the technical details, but if you need help, there's always that tech-y friend of yours or good old Google!
