Hi all,
I’m writing this letter to request help in researching aspects of teaching children with Williams syndrome. If you are a parent of a child with Williams syndrome and have 20 minutes to answer some questions by email, please consider contacting me. I am currently enrolled in a doctorate in Education in Toronto, Canada. I first started teaching in a private piano lesson setting, where I first encountered a student with Williams syndrome. Becoming familiar with her learning needs lead to more and more research, and soon I came to realize there are not many resources available for families and teachers trying to help students with this syndrome. This became a struggle for me, and I would like to do my part to ease this daily struggle for families and other teachers who work with children with Williams syndrome. Wanting to become a better teacher, I completed a Masters in Education with honours, which has now led to a doctorate in Education, and I have begun this research project on the learning needs of children and adults with Williams syndrome with the hope that further inquiry into this unique syndrome would be beneficial to families all over the world. I have a short questionnaire asking how you have been successful teaching your Williams syndrome child any task of your choosing; would you consider assisting me by filling it out to the best of your ability? It is completely private and confidential. If so, please email me at researchingwilliamssyndromenow@gmail.com. I have created a profile and journal entry here for anyone wishing to know more about me! Thank you so much for your time, Sarah Cashmore, M.Sc.Ed. Posted on 06/01/09, 06:06 pm |
