Films about death/bereavement

I read somewhere in the very earliest days of my loss that it is good to watch films that might help get in touch with the grief and sadness, providing a safe outlet for tears and mourning. (I know, most of us don't need help being sad!) But sometimes films can help me articulate a feeling that I am having trouble expressing. And watching others in the same situation (even though they're actors--the brain doesn't really know the difference) really helps by making me feel not so alone.
I will list a couple of films that have helped me (no guarantee for anyone else); please add any that might have helped you. The Pilot's Wife (about a secret life) Moonlight Mile Catch and Release (also a secret life) Bonneville I'm also watching the Showtime series called "Dead Like Me." It's very offbeat and witty. The humor is dark, but it offers a creative way of looking at death. Posted on 11/02/09, 01:11 pm |

Well just out in Aus is The Boys Are Back is set in outback South Aus - about a young dad whose young wife dies quicly (like mine) of cancer leaving him with a 7YO and a 15YO (at boarding school in Rugby). He's (Clive Owen) a sport writer and a hopeless Dad. Well it all changes and is rivetting. You may need to wait or order it if in US. John
