My boyfriend is a veteran. He has been a veteran for a couple of years. He is living off of his check that he gets every month. Is that bad? Does he get enough from his check to live off of?

Rate depends on # of tours & rank and yrs served etc...
Most vet use VA hospital and gym on base etc which is part of thier benifits. Just ask a vet to see his bank statements and household expenses, stocks, pension, in'har'i'tance etc... because you need to pry into hers/his personal business, espically if your going into business partnership or you need to know how much of a loan you can ask from vet and/or how much she/he can be of finacial benifitual to you and/or possible your family or a friend who intends on marry a vet. The VA will not give you this info. nor send you a copy of his benifits. If he has 20 to 30 yrs to devote to work force he may opt to work on base or at post offc. or as law enforcement officer or in prison system ... Sorry but I - we cant tell you his business. His Mom might --? If asked, he might.

Below is a link to the 2009 Military pay chart. Find his rank and time in service and that will give you his base pay. Does not include any Cost Of Living Allowance (which varies by duty station and state where he is stationed), Housing Allowance, Food and Clothing Allowance, Combat Duty Pay, etc.
http://www.military.com/military/b... President Obama’s proposed 2010 budget includes a 2.9 percent pay increase for all servicemembers. This proposal is one percent lower than the 2009 military pay increase. However, considering current economic conditions this may prove to be a generous increase when compared to the civilian wage rates. Military Pay Update: The House and Senate have proposed 2010 military pay raise of 3.4 percent. The proposal has survived the House mark-up process, indicating this will likely pass and be signed by the president. I hope this information helps. Any further questions.....got to www.military.com
