i appear to have entered the conversation in a random lull. i meant that to say absolutely not in relation to a draft. drafting individuals is unacceptable. serving in the military is a choice. it should always be a choice.

whole dang countries gone mad it seems...we can't afford these wars and we're achieving nothing, and you want more poor young men and woman to be coerced in the the farce? sorry I cant support the idea

Now for the question of the draft. As a Vietnam veteran, I can assure you I enlisted for 4 years and served those years in the US Air Force. I then did 12 years in the US Navy, being discharged as an E-6. From talking to my nephew who is in his 5th year in the Army, it seems to me we have a lot of fine young men serving our country. They are underpaid, overworked and are putting their lives on the line for our freedom and they do not complain like some of these *itches here are doing.

The military is actually trying to cut back on manpower. To institute the draft again would only cost the US millions of dollars more. We do not need the draft, as it is not cost effective. We would be spending thousands if not millions of dollars training these kids and after two years they are gone. This money could be better spent training kids in a field they can use once they get out. My nephew can get out after 10 years and go work for a police department's SWAT team as a specialist in night-vision devices and other like equipment for at least $100,000 a year.

So I could care what that moron from Georgia did in the 70s or that woman-chasing, draft-dodging pot head did in the 90s to the military. Every liberal democrat who became president has always ruined the services, and that is a know fact. The only good thing this current president has done is he got bin Laden today.

So ladies....go back to whence you came. I stayed out of your area...stay out of mine
