This is the highest rate in 25 years. Is this proof that the stimulius bill didn't work in regards to creating jobs?

Alot of people are saying that maybe the states are either sending the money back, or using it on other things than job creation. Maybe this is a good example of why just handing out money and figuring people will do the right thing for those who voted for them may not be the best solution.

Nikki - I have heard that some governors are sitting on the money rather than using it to improve the economy in their state. I've also heard that this is an intentional ploy to bury Obama.
Hopefully this is not true.

How horrible. Do you know if there is a place they keep track of this? I think this is something voters should know. I would certainly never vote for someone who had done that.

I remember when Obama said that unemployment would crest at 8 percent. Here we are at 10, and I would venture to say the true number is more like 12. Shovel ready? Anyone recall that? I'm tired of being told LIES by the government. Go ahead and add up ALL the money that has been printed and spent under this president. It has devalued our dollar, and threatened the future prosperity in this country. What do we have to show for it? Well, high unemployment, devalued currency, lack of credit flow to spur expansion of small business, who are our number one employers, higher proposed taxes, government officials who believe "bailing out" is their trojan horse to takeover industries, and a congress that IGNORES the people and shoves down our throats whatever THEY want on a partisan politics level. His ideas don't work. They never have anywhere they have been tried.

I just wonder if McCain and Palin had won the election where we would be?I shudder to think about it.

I have a feeling you'd be in the same boat...although stimulus money would've been funnelled and porked up a bit differently.

KB I disagree, I think we would be in a far different boat. I think taxes would have been immediately reduced for small business, and people in general, credit would be flowing to expanding businesses and people would be going back to work. Consumer spending would be higher, and confidence in the economy would be higher. i am not saying that if Mccain had been elected things would be healed and great, but I KNOW they would be better than this.

Well, I disagree. First off, I can't say I am happy with everything that Obama has done. But...
If McCain had won, the top 1% would probably be getting MORE tax breaks, the U.S. would be in more wars (think Iran and North Korea) and the businesses wouldn't be using any money they got for us people (think bailouts for the banks). So, we would still be in the same situation. Not only that, but then Palin would knock off McCain and she would be the prez. Then the U.S. would be a theocracy!
