Newly diagnosed - VIN III

I had 6 biopsies performed last Monday, and was at the doctor's today where she told me I had VIN III labia minor. I am scheduled for excision surgery in 4 weeks. It's a scary situation - last August I had a pulmonary embolism which almost took me out, so to now having this to fight is a lot to handle. I'm only 36!
My question to those who have had surgical excision is, how did this affect your sexuality? I'm single, and almost as scared of being deformed as I am cancer. After surgery, it is noticeable? Did you require corrective surgery? Was the area pretty much the same? Did it alter your sexual ability? I can't find any details on these issues at all on-line, and I do not know what to expect in terms of pain and duration after. How much time off work? My doctor said 2 weeks minimum to 4 weeks is average. Thanks so much for answering my questions! Posted on 04/15/09, 01:04 pm |

Hello Taylyn, Sorry about your PE last August. That is scary !!! Do they know what it was from?
Sorry about your diagnosis.. I have VIN 3 also and am still waiting waiting waiting for a plan. I have not had surgery yet. Just 3 biopsies. Ask your Doctor the extent of the sugery. How much they are taking and where from. I can understand your worries.... I am older than you but single also. For any woman it is scary. Good luck and let us know how you do. Oleander
