What to Expect/Ask with the Biopsy Results

Hello Everyone!
Let me just say that wow, is it hard to find any support or information about VIN or vulvar cancer anywhere! Really happy I found this group. So I went in for my annual pap last September and I pointed out an odd pink lump on my inner labia, close to the vaginal opening. He said he thought it was a wart even though it was "the oddest looking wart" he had ever seen, and I have never had one (or anything beyond a yeast infection once when I was pregnant about a decade ago). But I trusted his judgement and let him treat it with an acid (can't remember the name) and I got the letter about a week later saying my pap was normal. However, although the bump did "wipe off" after a couple of days it never really healed, it was painless, but that side always itched a lot and after a hot shower or bath sometimes it looked like it was bleeding a little. Just looked like a fleshier ulcer ever since last September. I went back to my gyno yesterday and told him it never healed, he said he could feel a small mass underneath the area as well. He did a 3mm punch biopsy and said he would have the results by Friday. He said he suspected VIN (had to look it up online, he offered no explanation). He is one of "those" doctors who doesn't explain things well. What questions should I ask once he delivers the biopsy results (assuming it is VIN or vulvar cancer)? And any advice for the aftercare of the biopsy, it stings pretty good today...I haven't actually looked at it yet, but my husband (what a sport) said it looked like a black hole... Please let us know the results of the biopsy. The area heals quickly enough. Keep it clean and use neosporin if necessary.

Thanks Meekame. It does seem like the biopsy site is healing slowly, but cleanly :) I received my biopsy results back last Friday and it came back VIN II and wants to do a wide local excision. I already started a new discussion at http://www.dailystrength.org/c/Vulv...
