" I heard someone on these boards say once that they went to AA meetings and just swapped the word "video games" for "alchohol" in his/her speech.

He/she would also force himself/herself to hear "video games" in place of "alcohol", "booze", and the like.

I have no idea how well it works. I, myself, have not tried that. "

Yes it is addiction but Alchol and video games is not the same thing even though it does have the same affect.. I just dont feel comftourable talkeing to someone that has a different addiction then I. And yes i have gone to AA and Alanon meetings .. it;s not the same....

" Just a thought here, but if you feel self-conscious telling them that you're addicted to a computer/video game (I also feel a little silly saying that out loud) have you considered
saying you're addicted to gambling? Card games are also "just a game" but a lot of people who are ignorant of the dangers of "Gameaholism" understand people ruining their lives by playing poker or 21 too much.
And lots of people gamble on-line nowadays.
Actually, as I understand, some of the earliest
attempts by psychologists to describe this addiction used alot of comparisons to compulsive gambling. "
