sarge5--"Love him or loathe him, he nailed this one right on the head"..........

By Rush Limbaugh:

I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in Uniform are profound No one is really talking about it either, because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11.Well, I can't let thenumbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000.The range is aminimum guar! antee of $250,000 all the way up to $4.7 million.

If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.

Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.

Keep in mind that some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enoughTheir deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers.

We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oaklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11 families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.

You see where this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low-rent housing. Make sense?

However, our own US Congress voted themselves a raise. Many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month. And most are now equal to being millionaires plus. They do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7, they may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed them in harm's way receives a pension of $15,000 per month.

I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting.

' When do we finally do something about this? If this doesn't seem fair to you, it is time to forward this to as many people as you can.
How many people can you send this to?

How many will you send it to?

" Always been a major complaint of mine. Now as a disabled individual collected Social Security Disability it pisses me even more. But I served my country. I was discharged because of my drinking. That was 1983. I quit booze in 1982. Had I stayed for 20, I would have gotten about 52% of $1290 or $670 a month as an E-6 with 22 years pay. But of that $670 my ex-wife would have gotten about $147. So I would be getting about $500 a month plus SSD. Now my Senator from my state is going to get $15,000 even if he serves one term? Even if he is voted out? He still gets a pension? Something is not right? Social Security people get no increase in benefits this year, but Congress gets a pay raise? Fuc* that. Just ain't right. "

" The trouble about politicians is that once elected you can never get rid of them. If only we could have term limits on Senators and Congressmen. When was the last time your Senator went to his home state and toured the State doing Town Hall meetings and ASKED the people what THEY WANTED? "

" Sometimes the government will screw you in the butt and you won't even know it. They make something look real real good and then they give it to you. They spend billions for bailouts and CIT Group still files for bankruptcy. They say they saved 650,000 jobs.....what about the 9.8% they did not save? The unemployment is that high. Pratt & Whitney is going to flood another 1000 within the next 12 months when they close a plant in Cheshire, CT and take away more jobs in their East Hartford plant. Other companies in this state as letting hundreds go. (By the way.....none of those companies got any money from Obie.) Looks like those companies who stuffed Obie's pockets got bailed out. He just screwed the little man again. "

" Salute to our military and the Finger to our congress. This is a travesty.

Get your neighbors together and return your reps and senators return from Washington to set up offices within their districts. Close down the pricey buildings they now occupy.

This is the computer age and they can both READ THE BILLS and vote via computer. We'll spring for their office rent in a local strip mall and some staff to fill the cubicles, in addition to hotdogs and soda for their once annually Reunion in Washington.

They should and will then have to face us and report to us, rather than their lobbyists and various mafias slithering around in WA.

It was never intended that our reps/sens move to Washington much less be career politicians.

They can and should live amongst us, pay their own rent/house payment, utilities, car payments, gas, and meals like the rest of us.

When they're voted out, they can go get another job like the rest of us do when we leave a job. They are vested at 20 years and if they are good enough to get re-elected for 20 years, they can collect whatever they put into their 401K plus the percentage we added based on the COLA percentage that Social Security recipients received each year they were employed.

There are no company pensions for us anymore. So none for them.

The billions in annual savings for their upkeep and corruption expenditures would go a long way toward taking care of our active service families and veterans - and the only 2 or 3 other things the federal government has constitutional charge of. "

" IT'S A WELL KNOWN FACT THAT CONGRESS EVEN IN THE WORST OF TIMES HAS GOTTEN THEIR RAISES. IT'S NORMALLY SET UP TO WHERE IT IS AUTOMATIC AND GOES INTO EFFECT WHILE THEY ARE ON RECESS. IT'S ALWAYS BEEN A PET PEEVE OF MINE THAT THEY GET THEIRS REGARDLESS. THIS IS NOT HOW THIS COUNTRY WAS SET UP. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE OF THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE. NOT DO IT TO THE PEOPLE. I'M WITH EVERYONE ELSE LET THEM GET OUT AND PUT ON THE UNIFORM AND TRY TO MAKE IT ON THE PAY THEY RECEIVE. WHEN I WAS DRAFTED IT PAID 72.00 A MONTH. THEY SAID WE WERE GETTING A RAISE SHORTLY AFTER I WAS DRAFTED. WE GOT THE RAISE IT WAS A WHOPPING 4.00. TRY RAISING A FAMILY EVEN BACK THEN IT WAS A HARDSHIP. GRANTED THE PAY IS MORE NOW BUT IT NOWHERE COMES CLOSE TO BEING ENOUGH TO MAKE IT ON. "
