From what I understand, it seems that the varicose vein surgical techniques have improved a lot over the past few years. For many types, patients can have minor varicose vein surgery in the doctors office in under an hour using only local anesthetic.
Here is an explanation for how the vein surgery works. http://www.veinconcerns.com/laser-... Posted on 07/03/08, 02:07 am |

Varicose veins are swollen, twisted veins that you can see just under the surface of the skin. These veins usually occur in the legs. However, they also can form in other parts of your body. Actually, I'm on my 30's and both of my legs has varicose veins but they are not severe cases. My doctor told me to try sclerotherapy for 3 weeks and see if my varicose veins will subside. Well, it does but the procedure is too painful for me. My doctor told me that we can try the laser therapy (varicose treatment) http://doctorfinders.com/varicosev... Well, it works for me. I am on my 3rd session now.

I have had both my legs done in hospital on Wednesday,It took 20mins, I was in and out of hospital in two hours. Had them filled with foam, then I have to have them wrapped tight for a week, then next Wednesday take the bandages off and just wear the compression tights for a week. So will update you next week on how my legs are.

Scale: Good to see someone reply on here. Have you ever had a problem with blood clots in your legs? I have both in superficial veins and also deep vein system. I am having a hard time getting a straight answer if Laser treatment of varcosities will help prevent future deep vein thrombosis since the Drs do not believe the varicosed veins attributed to the DVT.
I wish you a speedy recovery and please give us an update and let us know how you are doing.

Had the bandages taken off yesterday, just wearing the compresssion tights now. My legs feel like peppermint, warm and burning, like when you put that deep heat on your skin. Yes I have had a few blood clots in my legs, that why the doctor decided to fill them with foam.

OK I have not heard about filling the veins with foam. Can you direct me to a website that explains this procedure? I'm very interested and want to learn more especially since I have had DVT problems too.
