Im 38 and have been diagnosed with vaginal melanoma. I'm interested in talking with others who have melanoma too. What has this been like for you? How are you coping with life? Have you had to go on disability?

Dear friend,
I was also diagnosed with vaginal melanoma in late July 2009. I find out the stage of cancer and if it has spread on Monday, August 3rd. I can't offer you any experience of what works/doesn't as it's a new health challenge for me. But, I have faced and overcome health issues before and I'm great at encouragement. I'm also an author and an artist. I'm 52 and have 1 grown son. I'm a twin who's been married to a twin for the past 30 years. I'm actually writing a humorous book about chronic illness right now. Who would have known, I'd be getting new, 1st hand content!

Dear Friend,
I hope your disease is localized and that any possible surgery isn't of radical nature. I had very radical surgery and like everything there are life long side effects from it. Hopefully you won't have to go through what I did. I will tell you about it at another time. (if you want) Best of luck today at the doctors
