Hello Dr. I'm not sure what you mean by
"urge" incontinence, but I do want you to know that my wife is on Detrol LA, 4mg in the morning to control some incontinence problems. She has Parkinson's Disease, and we believe this is the reason behind the incontinence. With the Detrol LA, she has some control, but still has a short period of time (2-5 min.) from the time the urinary urge comes on, until she looses control. Prior to the Detrol, there was no lapse time/warning. As an added note, she is also on 40mg of Lasix to fight water weight gain that is a side effect of other meds. If you would like more information on this, send me a message and I'll try to respond with what ever information you want. We are also looking for something better, since we are planning on a 3 month long trip this summer. Caring1

I was on DITROPAN XL 10MG TABLETS but it didn't work. I have a lot of bladder infections too and the medication for that helps Ciprofloxacin 500 mg 2x a day. BUT I can't stay on that very long. I only have 20. I don't know why they can't find a pill that stops this.
I have been told I have an overactive bladder and then was given a test and the doctor said I needed surgery. I think it is the urinary tract is weak and needs support. Ann

DrOrrange,
Over the years I have used both medications. The problem I had with them was that they gave me intense drymouth, so that I inadvertently drank more fluid than I should have. The result was disastrous. Paxton

Hello, Im actually on vesicare and may further down the track have an op called cystodistension with some botox which may help with my urge incontinence. My gyno wont do the op until i have finished having a family. I have been working on my pelvic floor for last few years with physio and bladder retraining and pilates. However i still have many accidents hence drs suggestion of op. Have you heard anything about Neotone or Athena products for pelvic floor toning? Are they just a con or do they really work? My pelvic floor has improved but could be stronger on the lift side of the exercises which im hoping could ward off some of these accidents and thought I could give these products a go. Appreciate your thoughts/opinion, Many thx

I take 15mg of Ditropan (Oxybutinin Chloride) daily and it seems to work great! In the beginning, I was really dizzy from it because it's a pretty high dose for my body weight, but I love it. I don't have "urge" incontinence, I just don't feel when my bladder is full, so I end up wetting myself emptying a FULL bladder and it doesn't help that my bladder is double sized! I'm perfectly fine now though!

I've been on Ditropan for a few years now and find that although there is still some urgency it seems to help cut down the amount of times I need to run to the bathroom. Along with Ditropan I am on Flomax. Both drugs make me feel as though I've gained SOME control over my bladder. I've been taught how to self catheterize but I don't want to do it. I find taking two pills along with the multitude of others I have to take for MS help somewhat.

Hi, this is my first post. Anyway, I have always had bladder issues, just never as severe as it's been the last 9 months. When I was younger if I had too much caffeine, etc. I would feel like I had to go constantly even if my bladder wasn't full. I went through many tests, and I was too young to remember if there was any result, but I'm pretty sure they never found out the problem then. Things went downhill around a year ago and drastically got worse about 9 months ago, where small leaks would occur randomly. After a while I did seek out a doctor, but he really didn't do much other than test for a UTI (which never ended up being the problem), He prescribed Detrol LA to me, and I got the infamous "dry mouth" problem, which doesn't work in my field (call centre work)....since I talk all day. But for me, anything's better. It does a bit to reduce issues. My doctor says I just have an overactive bladder, but even though I tried to get more info, he really didn't give me much to work with, so I'm not sure exactly what the issue is. So I'm not sure what kind of incontinence I fall under. He only told me my bladder contracts when it's not supposed to.
