I am so on the fence about this one. My twins and I have received the regular flu shot but I do not know what to do about the swine flu shot. It is so scary to hear about otherwise healthy people now on respirators due to the swine flu. I am a healthcare worker and I realize that my kids, husband and I have to venture out into the world on a daily basis. How do I protect everyone? I am scared of a vaccine that hasn't been tested but I also am scared of this crazy flu? What do I do? Any suggestions?

I'm going to take my chances and pass on this vaccine. Reports have shown that this flu is losing it's power, these really bad cases of pregnant women dying are sad and scary, but the number of deaths compared to the number of preggers who have actually recovered swiftly make it not so scary. Same goes with children, sooo many kids have gotten this flu and have been just fine. My pediatritian says the best thing we can do right now is make sure NO ONE gets dehydrated while sick!! That's the number one problem with this flu, it apperently takes away thirst. So my plan is good medical care, lots of rest, and water water water!! Hopefully, we dodge this one all together!

We've been keeping close eye on our kids while they get sick on and off... we always make sure fluid intake is good. I'm in the boat that I'm scared of the swine flu but i'm also not confident of getting a vaccine that hasn't been tested either. We're passing til we have better info. Besides for all I know they may have already had it and moved on. its hard to know.

Both of my twins, and hubby contracted swine flu about a month ago. I never caught it-perhaps because I am OCD and a germaphobic or maybe because I have a really good immune system. I can't tell you how many times my kids have come home with the nastiest stomach bugs and I have had to deal with vomit in the hair, bed, and everywhere else and I NEVER get it??????
I personally am NOT going to get my girls or myself vacinated for swine flu since 1. they already had it and therefore naturally built up an immunity to it 2. I don't believe they know yet what kind of negative effects it could possibly have-just as the arguement of children vaccines linked to autism (and I'm not saying I agree or disagree with that) however I AM saying that for me personally I will wait that one out for now....the regular flu shot has been out for years and in my opinion is worse than the swine flu. My kids had a congestive cough, fever, and headache-nothing more than what they experience when they have had tonsilitis. My kids are even considered higher risk because they were hospitalized younger with Pneumonia but I stayed on top of their symptoms and pushed their fluids and it was ALL fine. I think the media has really hyped this up more than it has to be-YES people, babies have died from it but how many have died from the regular flu? How many have died from complications of the common cold? Anyways no matter what you decide YOU are the one that has to make that decision and noone else can convince you otherwise! :-)

Recent reports are that more children are becoming seriously ill or dying from the swine flu and that it is gaining power.
We are getting it when it becomes available. I would rather take chances on having side effects than having to lose a child altogether. Until then we are totally isolating them and letting my germaphobe nature take over.
