The perks of not having a baby

So as many of you know, I was bumming hard over attending a party where we were the only couple without any kids, and then being asked when we were going to have kids. It really had me down until I read your great responses, especially HowdysGirl, who made such an awesome point. All those people with kids have something that we desparately want, but in turn, we have lots of things that they would love to have. Thinking about all the great things about being a DINK (Dual Income No Kids) has really made me feel better this week, so I'd like to continue the trend.

What are the things you love right now that will have to be put on hiatus for awhile after having a baby? I'll start:

Sleeping in on Saturday mornings (this goes hand in hand with Saturday morning sex!)
Extra disposable income (which in my case means more shoes in my closet)
A rainy afternoon, a latte, and 4 hours in an overstuffed chair at Barnes and Noble

Here's to enjoying where we are right now!

" What a great idea! My husband told me this morning that I finally seem at peace (after a year of being miserable) and actually seem happy. I think it is because I am finally able to focus on the positives in life instead of focusing on not having a baby.

I love being able to go have drinks with the girls after work on a moment's notice. I love to sleep in on Sunday mornings with my husband, get coffee, and drive to our favorite field and let our 2 black labs play around. I love a weekend tennis match or long run with my husband.

Thanks so much, this is what I needed to start my day off on the right foot! "

" I love going on dates with DH and sitting at the bar and having wings a few drinks.

I also enjoy cooking and eating whatever I desire. In fact we are going for sushi tonight.

Going for rides with DH on his Harley. "

" I love sat afternoon naps where my DH and I sleep the afternoon away...

I also love going to the mall and spending tons of money of my nephews, because I know I have the extra income.

Good idea - focussing on the positive. They always say "Life is what happens when you are making other plans". "

" I like the fact that I don't have to keep up on house work THAT much, it's okay to have a messy home if there aren't little ones putting things in their mouths every second!

I like spending time with our dogs at the park.

We love going camping and hiking--which will be a nice family event once our children are old enough, but hauling a strolling around and setting up 2 tents isn't our idea of fun right now...

I like having my own craft room! Once we conceive our second, I might have to give that up! But, we're still TTC for #1, so I don't have to worry about that too much! "

" Wow... this was a post I NEEDED today :)

1. SLEEP! I really really really love sleep!
2. Not having to "pack" just to go to the store down the street.
3. I can watch what I want on TV... no Wiggles, Teletubbies or Dora on my television!
4. Traveling. It can be done with little ones, but it's MUCH more difficult.
5. Talking with my hubby.
6. Being able to do whatever I want without worrying about the effects it has on someone else
7. I don't have a push a stroller around narrow aisles when shopping!
8. Did I mention how much I love my 8 hours of sleep?

:) Life is good. Thanks for the reminder AutumnBride! "

" I'm away on a little vacation, but had to weigh in on this one! My perks would be:
- wearing high heels every day
- saturday morning on the couch with a cup of coffee and DH
- being able to leave the house at a moments notice with nothing but myself and my keys
- books, books, books!
Great idea on this post...very refreshing! "
