I have had this for 8 yrs I have been able to always kinda ween my self off of the gabepentin I am on but this time every time I do my head hurts do bad. The other night I forgot go take my pill b4 bed and during the night my forehead was killing me burning hot my head hurt so bad.
This stuff can make your whole body just shut down. I can't do anything but try to lay down in the dark and quiet room. It also seems too much over stimulation on my brain makes me hurt.... Ya know too much going on in a room. Then other times I am just fine. I wish we heard more about this it seems a lot have it. But drs don't talk about it. Janie Posted on 11/07/09, 07:11 am |

HI Janie
Sorry to hear how you are feeling. I have not been on Gabepentin. I must say even with Tegretol, it always amazes me how much of an effect (like the drowsiness, brainfog, weird zombie feelings) it can have, even at a low dose. Is there not some kind of alternative you can take? It seems a bit suspect that something that is helping you is causing you to feel so unwell.... (if I understood it correctly). Vicky

howdy janie
my dr said that triliptal is a good alternative to tegretol. if i am unable to be on tegretol any longer i am going to try this..i know this pain of only wanting to crawl in a dark room and pray for relief. those were my first two years. it is almost six i have had atypical facial pain. my eye forehead can be one of my most painful spots. but i had motor cortex surgery three years ago and now on maint. drugs only. so keep looking for the right "cocktail" of what will work for you. my biggest mistake was waiting and not being more aggressive to help myself. you are your own best advocate.\ blessings for pain free days for you julie

Hi Janie,
This is my 1st day as a member. I started on trileptal a year ago. It is so much better than anything else i was put on. It is not working as well right now but i believe that i have something else going on that is causing the trigeminal nerve to be acting up more. I had sever side effects from some of the other drugs i have tried. If I go more than a day without trileptal i will have pain for several days. It take 3-4 days for it to go back to full effect. Ask about the trileptal get your Dr's take on it. It is worth a try. You never know when relief could come. I hope you get some help with the pain.
