I seek advice. In my area there seems to have been meetings of some sort on how to force the GLBT community out of El Dorado Arkansas. I am not alone in this a lesbian friend of mine is loosing her home. She sent money for her home mortgage etc only to have it sent back. They are now auctioning off her home. The people here are trying to force me out as well. I have been non stop harassed by people here. Even in college they were trying to force me out. I filed a sexual harassment complaint and because I didn't roll over and be a good girl bogus complaints were alleged against me. I was accused of using both male and female restrooms then someone sat a toilet next to the highway close to my home. I have had a legal name change and all of my identification reflects this new name but I'm still receiving junk mail from company's that I contact and tell me there is nothing they can do about it. I have went to my local post office and they made a copy of the court order of name change and I have repeatedly asked them to put a filter on my mail and not allow mail in my old name. I even told them that this person no longer lives here and there reply was that we are legally required to deliver this mail to this address since you are the same person. WTF? Then everywhere I go up town I here the same thing that's "my old name".
Since this town despises the GLBT community I hope you all pass word of this to any one in the GLBT you can and tell them they should pay El Dorado, Arkansas a visit. Posted on 10/19/09, 03:10 pm |

Hi Katie, I'm sorry that you had to experience this type of
trans phobia/discrimination. I will pass the word around to the GLBT community, and let you know what I come up with.

The problem with your mail:
Checking your mailbox can become a new form of harassment if you are a transgender woman like me that's had a legal name change, even if you spend most of your time at home to avoid people. You can add your name to do not mail registries, call the companies or anything you want it won't work! The nazis can attack your right from inside your mailbox! All they have to do is know your previous name and address! They sign you up in your old name for free catalogs,mailing list etc. Then you call the companies and even if they do stop people find another magazine or company to send you yet more mail. We need to wake up the US Post office to this and make them realize that we can be attacked right from our mailboxes!

I think that the US Post office already knows, but they continue to send mail by using old names on purpose,

They are our mailboxes! I think we should have a little say about whats allowed to be put inside them!
