i will tell u what i mean, at a certain time of the night for some reason my mouth locks in a certain way and there is nothing that i can do about it. when i put my mouth guard on that is it i will not take for the rest of the night. i swear it is weird. i told the dentist about it and he said that it is just a way for my mouth fixing its self so i do not do anymore damage to my teeth. if there is someone out there that also has this. please let me know what i can do to stop it. thank u for your time

" I also have problems with my jaw locking. It's been about a few months since it's happened, but I've had problems with the locking for many years. I don't know of anything to make it go away, except to literally pressing my jaw with my hand (trying to get it to let go). Of course, the dentist has told me not to do this, but I don't think he's ever had this problem and knows what it's like to have your jaw stuck. Sometimes the gentle pressure of my hands does make it release (after about 10 mins or so) and sometimes it takes me just taking relaxers and going to bed. When I wake up in the a.m. it seems to be back to 'normal'.

If you have any ideas on how to get your jaw to 'unlock', please share your comments with me.

" well im 13 and i have TMJ , every night when i go to bed , i wake up in the middle of the night to find my jaw will be locked . as most people do they get scared because they cant open there mouth. well thats me , i tense up and it gets way worse then it already is. i find if you get a cold ice pack and put it on your jaw , it will unlock and if that doesnt work try a warm heat pad. i guarantee it will work . " I've actually moved my jaw out of place and it locks up when i open it too big, say for a large burger or yawning. it hurts like hell and makes an awful racket. Its always sore. My chiropractor tries to work on it sometimes. I dont mind, shes cute lol. My dentist told me if its does lock up and i can just move my jaw around to just relax and possibly take a muscle relaxer if needed. "

" Hi I to suffer from this frustrating problem. What really irritates me is with insurance companies! It doesn't fall under dental or medical and they refuse to cover you to get help! As soon as they see TMJ it is instantly NOT COVERED! I don't know about the rest of you, but I also suffer from sinus and migraines at the same time. And the fact that I lump on my jaw locking and painful TMJ headaches is almost more than I can deal with. I will have all hit at once and all I want to do it blow my head off. I walk around holding my head in my hands in a world of my own. I am being positive from your rules.... as this is a positive FACT of what I deal with. With very little help from doctors, dentists or Insurance Companies! This is very very disabling! Believe me my heart goes out to each and everyone of you that suffer with this.
