I went to the dentist the other day as I was suffering from immense pain in one tooth. I have been grinding my teeth for years and the dentist told me that I have a fractured tooth due to the grinding. I didn't even know you could fracture teeth! Has anyone else suffered from this?

I haven't but my grandfather has woke up with bits of teeth in his mouth from breaking them during grinding his teeth in the middle of the night.

Yes, I fractured (broke) the root portion. It got infected and puss came out of my gums. Took antibiotics and had the tooth pulled. What a mess!

Yes, I've fractured a tooth. And it cost me thousands (well, my insurance paid most of it) to get it fixed. It got infected (pus and stuff), had a root canal. 2 years later, it got sensitive again despite the absence of root. Finally, my dentist recommended implant or bridge. I opted for the latter. My dentist said he was going to deduct what I had already spent on my root canal so I only paid about $400 for my bridge (my insurance paid the rest).
