I think other than a mouth guard ... the only treatment that worked for me in reducing grinding is to reduce my anxiety. So you need to have a good lifestyle to reduce anxiety.

calling in other people to participate in this forum and list out the things that helped them reduce griding.
For me as I listed before grinding is almost gone after I gave up smoking, daily drinking and took depression and anxiety treatment with medicine Lexapro,

Hey guys! I just joined this group, its probabaly quite slow here as most people with this problem are already on the TMJ page as the conditions are usualy conjoined.

Well, i have to say and agree that now that my stress level is alot lower, i really don't grind anywhere near what i did in the past...which is so good!!! My teeth haven't hurt in a good while now, and i'm so glad about that. I hope that it will continue on that same path for a long time.

I tink they go hand in hand, although all of my family grinds their teeth, but I am the only one that gets the pain of having TMJ.

yes DrOrrange that would be a welcome step to see more participation and sharing by other people in this group.
Although I agree with above comment that grinding does not always cause TMJ which is my case also.

I just joined this site, I thought it was silly at first to have a support group for tooth grinding, but now I realize that other people are suffering from this too! It hurts my jaw, it hurts my teeth, and it gives me much a bad headache. It's not only at night either. I do it 24/7, and most of the time I don't even notice it. Does anyone else grind their teeth constantly? Or do most people just do it at night?

I used to grind my teeth during the day when I didn't sleep a lot and was really tired and out of it.
