Woman's World April 7th issue: Page 15 has an article regarding tinnitus. It suggested taking 500 mg. of zinc daily and vitamin B12 1,000mg. Help bring noise level's down for more than half of the sufferers. It's worth a try. hot line # 800-634-8978 Also recoomended to try is ACAMPROSATE. This was originally designed to treat alcoholism, it can halve symptoms for 50% of tinnitis sufferers within 90 days, a Brazilian study found. It's also Worth a try.

" Be careful with the zinc. I've read too much zinc can cause serious health problems. Please research it before taking it. I don't know all the facts but don't take it lightly. "

" Wow , I didnt know about acamprosate. Zinc and B12 is good recomendations but dosage of the zinc I have in question. Has anyone ever taken 500mg of zinc? I know that I tried to take a 100mg of it and it left me with a bad stomach ache and that was with taken food. The most zinc I can take with out getting sick is 30mg. "

" BiggieLou,
Thanks for that tip about the zinc. I've been taking 50mg a day for 3-4 weeks now and I've been sitting on the "shixter" way too much lately, almost like I've got a stomach flu but really don't. By the way, the zinc does not seem to be helping or hurting my t. "

" Just curious but has anyone with tinnitus tried GABA. I was just wondering since this Acamprosate seems to activate the GABA already in the brain. GABA is over the counter I believe in health food stores.

" I read a similar article and it said the ears have the highest concentration of zinc than anywhere else in your body. Those deficient in Zinc and B12 are the ones that experienced a reduction. I tried taking both Zinc 50 mg and B12 1,000 mg twice a day. Unfortunately for me it did nothing to reduce my tinnitus but mine is noise induced and you may be different. As JohnK said, please do your research before taking so much Zinc as an overdose is dangerous. Below is what I pulled on some of the side affects:

Side Effects of Zinc Supplement

The danger of taking zinc supplements can be summarized in two words: zinc overdose. A zinc dose of 40 milligrams is approved safe to use by FDA and a zinc dosage more than this can pose certain risks. In terms of zinc toxicity, there is no other way to put it: excess zinc is dangerous! This is primarily true because too much zinc will likely interfere with the metabolism and absorption of other essential minerals in your body, most especially iron, magnesium and copper. Zinc side effects can become potentially serious if you take doses from 150 to 450 mg a day. Taking this much can decrease your copper, iron and magnesium levels, reduce your body's immune function, and reduce your HDL (good cholesterol) level. "

" Before anyone starts taking these "Over the counter, Natural drugs" you should check everything out with your doctors first. A lot of "Natural" medications can interefere with other presccribed drugs that you may be on.

Surely before taking all these supplements you would want to find out if you were lacking or deficient of that particular one in the first place? Only a blood test can find out if you need to supplement with Zinc or B12. I know we are all desparate to find something that controls or cure's the T but I recommend caution with all these drugs, natural or not. "
