Tinnitus and Vitamin B12.

I recently ran across an article about Vit B12 and I was shocked to learn that it should be taken first thing in the AM on an empty stomach pretty much. So I started taking 500mcg three days ago and I can already say that I do not feel the anxiety/depressive symptoms that I was always feeling. Plus I also stopped my lexapro 3 days ago. The article actually recomended 1000mcg per day on an empty stomach.
Just wanted to share this. Anyone else tried this? Pat Posted on 11/08/09, 11:11 am |

Haven't tried it, but think I'll get some tomorrow. I'm currently not any any anti-depressants, but take anti-anxiety meds from time to time. I don't like the side effects (drowsiness, etc.) so B-12 is sounding great! I'll post results. Pat

I've been taking sublingual B12 for quite a while. I'm told it's absorbed better when put under the tongue in liquid form.

Darkson,
I'm taking a Super B-Complex that has 15mcg of B12 in it and it says on the bottle that amount is 250% daily value. 1000mcg sounds like alot. I think it has helped me with anxiety also. Deb

I would like to try a natural way to help my T.
What is the recommended amount to take for the vit. B12? Does it make the T. quieter or just help with the nerves?

The whole issue with B12 is absorbtion. The article I read recomended 1000mcg with the understanding that. If you get too litlle b12 there can be damage, if you get too much it is just excreeted thru urine. I am doing this for my nerves. I had to quit the lexapro do to RLS. The b12 has issues with food so it has to be taken right when you wake up or on an empty stomach.

I've been taken a multi-vitamin during this ordeal. It simply gives you a better start on the day. I've heard of mixed reviews on taking a higher dosage of B12, but there have been reviews that state that B-12 deficienct is somehow associated with Chronic Tinnutus. This review indicated that your blood level should be checked for levels of B12. Please observe this article referred to as "Silence the Ring" www.mothernature.com/library/books...

I have Pernicious Anemia and will need shots for life. I have a family doctor that just doesn't take it serious and I have a neuroligist doctor, that is one of the best telling him I need a B12 shot every week for the rest of my life. I wish I could make him take it more serious because the neurologist feels like it could be cauing my tinnitus. I've had it for many years and just never manage to get it treated. I just need to be more demanding and call and make appointments for the shots but I don't like going out so I just let it do. I need to make myself a promise to follow through with these shots. They could be my cure or they could make a difference with a lot of my other symptoms.

Thank you for the great article "Silence of the Ring"
I t gave me some excellent information on other things to try rather then meds. I printed it out. I am going to start with the Vit B12 after asking if it is okay with my doc. He may want to check it my blood levels first. Sandy
