Experiencing Relief

Well it's been about 6 weeks now since I have had my T. As some of you may have already read my previous posts I was going through a terrible, terrible time. I haven't wrote in about 2 weeks as I wanted to see if my choice of therapys is working.
As you may remember I said I would be going to the chiropractor for treatments. We never did accupunture he was been working on specific pressure points on my neck, head and shoulders. Well I have to say it's been a relief, amazing relief!! There was one point that while pressure was being applied to muscles and nerves in my neck the T went away completely. I felt like jumping off the examining bed and hugging him. So laughing I asked if he could shadow me all day holding the pressure point....unfortunately he had other patients to see. So, this brings me to a deduction or question. Why did it go away while pressing on nerves and muscles? Obviously it is linked in some way...but how? I will be talking to my specialist whenever I get an appointment....still waiting. I know without a doubt I have habituated because sometimes I have to listen really closely to hear my T. I no longer require sleep aids either med's or white noise...I can just go to sleep. Some morning's I wake up and it's completely gone and I don't notice or listen for it at all until later in the day and it's barely there. It is more apparent when the barometric pressure changes, but I am able to put it back in the closet where it belongs. I will be continuing my treatments with my chiropractor and hopefully the silence will return again and not leave. I am a hopeful person and I refuse to let this bring me down. I don't know what it is like to have T really loud where you can't hear things over it...my heart goes out to those that suffer so greatly. I still feel in the bottom of my heart there is a low grade infection due to the fluid I hear moving around in my ears at times. Another thing I experienced was the power of suggestion...last night when I went to bed I could hear my T...the house was very silent. I kept repeating over and over to go back into the closet and eventually it did...I couldn't hear it anymore. I know it sounds really stupid...and I am not explaining it so well but I visualized the inner parts of my ears and visualized the sound and visualized myself moving the sound into a closet and shutting the door. It worked!!! Next thing I know it's morning and I barely hear my T at all. I will keep you all posted as my treatments continue and the results of seeing my specialist as my family doc had to make a referral and I am waiting for the phone call for an appointment. Find something positive in each and every day. We will all get through this. Hugs, Cory Posted on 11/07/09, 09:11 am |

Cory,
Great news! It makes me want to start spending money on a chiropractor rather than massage therapy. I too have neck issues. I will give it a try. I don't know the relationship of neck muscles, nerves and tinnitus. Tinnitus is still poorly understood. One thing I do know is the less physical and mental stress we are under the less tinnitus bothers us. Your put the sound in the closet analogy is great. Visualization is a powerful tool for so many things in reducing stress. I wish you continued relief. Mark

I am glad that you are able to put it away and not let it control your life. Whatever works for the individual is great. Thank you for sharing your news.

Coreylee,
sounds to me like you are doing everything right and controlling the T in a very effective way. You say you are Habituated to it, well thats fantastic news. It can take years for some to be in the place you are at now. Well done you. Best Wishes Mandy

I'm glad to hear such great news and I hope it continues to get better for you.
Finding relief from T is as unique, well as T itself(sounds like a great speech(fear)given by Roosevelt). It is a trial and error process in which for some can be shorter like yourself and longer for others- like me. In my instance I'm learning to live with it while I pursue possible remedies that may make things better. I have yet to look into a chiropractor, accupunture or massage treatments. I've inquired on this site about these treatments and it always comes back with mixed reviews. Most feel good and relaxed after these treatments, but the effect on T seems to vary. Its intresting this technique regarding the pressure points on the neck, head and shoulders. I may begin to look for a chiropractor and ask them if they had experience with T patients and if they have found relief. Cory, I'm going to open my closet later and see if I can coerce the T to visit it. Thanks again for the post, continue to feel better and let us know how you are doing.
