For some reason last night when I laid down to watch TV in bed I noticed my T seemed to be gone. I listened really hard and usually if I do that it gets loud and clear, like saying "I'm still here".
Boy I actually had about an hour of silence for the first time in about 2 yrs. I thought about everything I did yesterday but can't think of anything different that would make a big difference with T. Silence was definitely Golden. Even if it only lasted about an hour. I just listened to the silence and enjoyed it while I could. Hoping it comes back again. Because I've found out that doctors don't seem to know very much about T and are of little help. Thank You for this great group. I look forward to it each day and it helps me know there are so many other people out there suffering like me. Posted on 11/06/09, 01:11 pm |

Hi Mom4tags,
I had a similar experience believe it or not after I had an operation in January this year to have my Thyroid removed. I had a whole 24 hours of silence.! Incredible...and yes silence is golden. I certainly never appreciated it before. It definately is something that is missed. I remember going for a walk just before this operation and it was snowing. The whole world seemed soft and silent and white, and I had this screaming noise in my head....to say it spoilt the effect is putting it mildly!! Mandy

Mandy, do you think they used Lidocaine or something? They say people have hours of silence if the medication is used in any way in a person -

Mandigrace,
Not sure really what anestetic was used but I don't think it was that drug as I think thats only used by dentists...but not sure I could be totally wrong in that assumption. The strange thing is that I got T after my 1st hip op! Then the Thyroid op shut it up then the 2nd hip op ....no change at all!! This only goes to prove that T has a mind of its own. It will come and go as much as it wants. It will rule your life if you let it ( I don't) and I am a big believer in the fact that one day I shall just wake up and it will be gone...just as quick as it arrived. I wish for that day to hurry up, like most of us here, but it's not the main thing in my life anymore. We can spend a lot of time just waiting around for that day and in the mean time life's passing us by. By the way....whilst typing this I can hardly hear my T . If I close the ear up it's usually screaming and hissing but right now, although I am really focused on it as well...nothing. I would almost say it's gone, but I also know in a couple of minutes it can be screaming once again. This is where I think it's best to just accept it, we can't change it, we don't control it but we do control our emotional response to it. Mandy

I had like 5seconds of silence about 4 days ago. Man, is so strange not hearing nada... just silence. I only had it for so short, made me think of that song from Depeche Mode, ENJOY THE SILENCE. One thing is for sure, this t can be curable, no doubt the noise goes away... but who knows what will be the situation or ingredient in this recipe. I will keep praying... Cheers
