There was a change in plans and I go tomorrow (Thursday) instead of today. I must say I'm a little nervous, I have read that t is a side effect and this med could make it worst. I read on another website that a guy was in a trial and it made his "More noticeable" but easieir to ignore. I'm kinda confused by his post but I'm still a little nervous . I hope that it is just more of a pracaution than a warning.

I got bad news today, I didn't meet the criteria for the study. I had to fill out a questionare and apparently my condition is too bad for the study. (tinnitus too bad for a tinnitus study?)The woman didn't tell me that stright foward but I believe thats why I didn't get accepted. I was the forth person who didn't get accepted because of the survey but she couldn't tell me why the others couldn't be in it. She told me that if all goes well the med will be available around 2012. Sorry if I got your hopes up.

Hi Lowedt, sorry to read that. The post about being more noticeable but easier to ignore, makes a lot of sense to me. They are actually not lowering the t but making your brain to not have a negative response to it. I read somewhere that is exactly what happen to some guys trying memantine. As is my understanding, Neramexane is on the family of Memantines. They are like cousins.

Is this drug allowed for other conditions? Sometimes a psychiatrist or other doctor will prescribe the drug anyway - wonder if you could have tried it on your own.

Mandie the med in not available at all in the U.S for anything as of right now. Getting it outside of a trial would be almost impossible.

I talked to a guy in the trial online and he said I was probably denied because of the anxiety I have associated with my tinnitus. On the questionare it asks if it dictates if I go out, where I go out, relationships with friends, stuff like that and to me it does some. I would say that there are alot of people that feel the same way. I have went out before and will go out again, but I just dont make a habit out of it. I guess it was a little too much.
