" never heard of it so I look it up.

I would shy away from it. Due to the Side effects and safety concerns and the Possible drug Interactions. "

" Hi, I did try Vinpocetine. I used 40 mg per day. It did seem to lower the volume on my tinnitus some of the time, and other times it didn't seem to have much effect. I had no side effects and actually found that my brain/focus seemed a little sharper than usual (not by a big margin, but enough for me to note). I had no adverse side effects, and I didn't read about anyone having had adverse side effects. You might want to try it (start off slower with 20 mg per day). If you have bad side effects, stop taking it. And if you find it helps (as it seems to have done for a few people), then you'll be glad to have tried it. It's also not expensive (I paid $10 for a bottle that lasts a while depending on the dosage you take). Good luck! "

" I tried it for a few weeks but stopped as I thought it was making my tinnitus worse. I've been thinking about starting up again to see if it happens again. I purchased it at a local vitamin store and was taking the recommended dose of 10 mg 3 times a day. Give this a read from "Tinnitus FAQ".

" Tried it and it did not help - but everyone is different - it helps blood circulation - so if your tinnitus has any origin in the area of blood circulation - you will see a difference after a couple of weeks. "

" I was thinking of trying this as well. I had read in one group that someone tried a combined vinpocetine and ginkgo product put out by TruNature that they bought at Cosco and that they thought it was helping. If you try this would you please report your results. Thanks. "

" I think that anyone who is going to start taking over the counter medication should first consult their doctor.

We are lulled into a false impression that because it is "Natural" it can't do any harm but a lot of over the counter vitamins and other "safe" drugs actually interfere with other prescribed medications.

I have a great belief in natural remedies but only if taken with care and full undertanding of what they do.

Having all the information before hand will help save on any future problems.

" Mandy, I appreciate your concern but when I read about all the poisons that they put into our regular diet I am willing to take that chance. Natural will always beat out prescribed for me.

Remember this is a Prozac World and I dont doubt that its because of the poisons in our food and enviornment.

" Unfortunately, consulting your doctor about nutritional supplements will only likely lead to "I don't know any thing about them, but, it probably won't hurt you". And, if you are able to spend the money (here in the states each visit will cost you something) each time you want to try out something new, then, go ahead.

i try a new supplement about once every 2 weeks--just about long enough to see if the last one has had any benefit. Physicians are not trained in nutrition and, in many cases, have an interest in supporting the pharmaceutical industry.

Despite all that, I still see a regular ENT who I am working with to try prescription drugs--one at a time. I will start Campral next week. "

" The point I was trying to make was if you were already taking prescribed medicines for what ever reason...then you should be careful as they can react and interfere with those medicines.

Natural doesn't mean harmless. "

" There University of Maryland has a good database where you can look up drug and herbal interactions on there site One day I did a search and got into it. They don't have all the herbs and supplements listed, but quite a few of them. If you look up the herb they will tell you what it might interact with. I got into this by doing a search for University of maryland drug and herbal interaction database. "
