NAMENDA

I have had three days on Namenda now and I have to report a positive experience so far. First of all this med does make me tired and it is getting better as I get used to it being in my system. The biggest difference on this med is that my T does not spike much at all, even after work which is when it is the loudest for me usually. The last two nights of my work week (I work nights Mon. thru Thurs.) I noticed my T was not spiking and driving me bonkers! So far the three days I have been on Namenda my T has been softer and only a ring, hardly any pulsating swooshing at all. The pulsating swooshing is what really drives me batty! But the spiking and swooshing has for the most part stopped. Just a constant tolerable ring in mostly my left ear and I am sure it is my right, but just so faint now. My T is still there but much more tolerable. I hope for more improvements. I am thrilled with the results at three days out. I say that this drug may help some people with T and in my opinion worth a try. If your doctor will not let you try it and you really want to, I would move on and find a doctor that is open to it.

" I am curious, if a doctor puts you on medication that has not been approved for your condition is he not opening the door to potential lawsuits? "

" I had the free choice to take this drug or not take this drug. The final decision was up to me to take it. Many lawsuits are bogus in this country and are why alot of Doctors move to a different State. Also, A person has to be willing to try a treatment. Also, may I go on to say that many medications that were orignially intended for certain illness are used for others things now. Some medications treat many things, like antibiotics, etc.. "

" Brad, My T is noise induced like yours and I am hopeful about Namenda. Are you currently on a trial pack or did you get an actual prescription from your doc? "

" My family Doctor started me on a 4 week starter kit. She said I could take 5 mg daily which would boost the kit to last 10 full weeks at 5mg daily. Or if I boost the dosage to 10 mg. the kit would last five weeks. Currently I am doing only 5 mg. daily with positive results. I will continue with 5 mg. daily until this coming Tues. and then I will decide if I want to up the dosage to see if I get even more improvements. I will let you all know what I am doing. "

" Bradb, I am so glad to hear that you have had some positive results with Namenda (memantine hcl). I hope that you continue to see improvements. I can say that Namenda has reduced my T. to about 10%. I can live with 10%. I have noticed that if I forget to take my dose one in the morning and one at night that it will start to come back. That may mean this is a permanent medication for me. But, there are no side effects for me. I am now 100% off the vicodin I have had to take for 2 years to cope with Tinnitus. I can't tell you all how happy I am to be done taking those medications. I am even sleeping at night which is a miracle for me. "
