Final word on Namenda

I am on week 4 of Namenda. This is a NMDA receptor antagonist. It is approved in Europe for treatment of tinnitus. It is not approved here in the US for treatment of tinnitus. It is however approved for treatment of Alzheimer's, Parkinsons, and MS. If your tinnitus is due to nerve damage - commmonly from loud noise- then this may help you. I have experienced such a HUGE relief from my tinnitus. This has reduced my T. by 90% or more on some days. There have been a few days when my T. came back. If I had insomnia the night before, if I caught a cold, if I did something extreme my T. would come back but only for a day. I feel guilty reporting this success to you all because I know it may be difficult to obtain a prescription for this medication from your doctor. My doctor said it is not a problem for doctors to prescribe this for tinnitus. It is up to them. If you want to try this take some literature to your physician about the use of NMDA receptor antagonist. Google NMDA and tinnitus and you should get all kinds of information. This may not work for everyone. It has been a god send for me. I don't know if I will have to take this for the rest of my life. I am going to take it for 6 months and then stop and see if my T. returns to it original hellish state. For me there were no side effects. It is obviously better than taking the vicodin I have taken for years to cope with T. I still can't sleep without taking lorazepam at night. But, one step at a time. I am now able to stop the vicodin because my tinnitus is hardly noticable most days. I know it may be difficult but talk to your doctor about trying Nameda. Most physicians will have trial samples from their drug representatives. They should have a month long trial pak. I noticed relief in the first week but it may take longer. I know this may not work for everyone. But, this is really worth a try.

" Precious, I feel guilty that I have found relief and I am praying for the same thing for all of you. I am really hoping that you can try this and that you can find relief somehow too. This demon has been chewing on my brain for years and I know how devastating it is. I am praying for all of you. "

" bradb. I hope your doctor will let you try it. I just can't believe that it only worked for me. It has to be able to help others. Not everyone but some people. I have tried many things and nothing ever worked. I hope it will help others too. Good luck and let me know. "
