I am asking advice for my partner. She was born 80% deaf in both ears 55 years ago. She wears 1 hearing aid and until two years ago functioned wonderfully. She suddenly lost all hearing for about 3 months and when it did return she developed tinnitus which has gradually gotten worse each day. She goes 3 or 4 days wth the ringing and one without. It is driving her crazy. She suffers with her hearing aid in or out. Because of her deafness there are no maskers. Can you help me help her. Thank you in advance. Ps she has very little confidence in Dr.'s

" Dear Kareve,
I would never wish this horrible affliction on anyone, and I'm so sorry your partner is experiencing it. I wish I had some great words of wisdom for you, but I'm only 5 months into this myself, and just trying to manage it daily as best I can. Her lack of confidence in doctors is justified with this condition, because unfortunately, there is so little they can do. We can hope it's a good sign that she at least has a few quiet days, maybe her body is trying to heal itself. I will pray that is the case.

" I have zero confidence in doctors, but sometimes we have to take a chance and hope for the best.My advice is just to be there for her. That is the most and important anyone can do for those that are suffering. It makes all the differnce in the world when you have someone be there for you in the good and the bad. Do alot of research.Has she been to the doctor? I know you said she has very little confidence. Has she tried a natuarl atternative Doctor or a (real chinese) Doctor? Has she tried natural things? "

" Hi Kareve -

Sorry to hear about your loved one. I have had this for 6 weeks and I'm about to go to my 3rd Doctor visit and like everyone else..I'm not to confident anything will happen. The Doctors can perscribe a tranquilizer to help throught the times where it really unbearalbe. But, like everyone said..there isn't much that can be done at this point. I was told it can disappear as fast as it appeared. So, just keep the faith..... "

" I have Tinnitus. In 1970 I had it and remained with me for 1 1/2 year. One day I tried to suicide but my creator did not want it and he saved me. It went away by itself and for next 25 years I did not have it. In 1996 it came back and stayed with me for 1 month. It went away again. In June 2009 it came back and I am still suffering from it. "
