" have a multinodule goider, one nodule is 2.8 centimeters on right lobe, 2 nodules on left side are 1.7 and 1.8. Had right side biop showes cancer. Have more than 30 nodules less than 1 cent. I swear the 137 mcg of synthroid is honestly not helping my hypo ! "

" I am on 125 which is actually a suppression dose but I used to be able to eat whatever I want and not worry about weight, since I got my thyroid out I have gained weight and can't seem to lose it. I used to be hyper like a kid now I get tired, but my skin looks better. "

" I was always thin but after I had my first child 12 years ago things changed drastically. I gained 100 pounds exactly during my pregnancy, I knew something was not right. I have gone through multple docs because I could not find one to listen. I have gained a total of 158 pounds in the past 12 years. It almost seems like my thyroid absorbs my synthroid instead of giving it to my body. I know there is no way it could be worse than what i feel now. The only thing I can say is that I don't even feel human anymore, I can not even express how bad I feel. I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired! "

" I have actually lost 10lbs since surgery 4 months ago!!! I have graves disease and suffered from the anti thyroid drugs. I finally had it removed after two years and thats how they found the cancer, a 1.2 cm nodule. I think I am losing weight now because I just feel better!!!

I take 150 synthroid. They say its 0.7 per pound of body weight. Hope you feel better soon!! I wish I had the surgery a long time ago. I no longer have any symptoms like that!!! The surgery is quite easy and recovery time is pretty short.

Good luck and good health!! "

" Thank you for the comments. My original fam doc had me a nervous wreck! She refused to refer me to an endo, she said he will want to take it out and that will cause me to have a machine to hold to my throat to talk. No matter how bad thing were getting for me she refused. I had enough and switched docs after 9 years, which was hard but I could NOT deal with this anymore. Almost immediately things were moving quickly. found more nodules, had biop., scan and date for sugery within 20 days. I was assured by docs and nurses that although there may be some irritation to my vocal nerve permanent damage was almost unheard of. I still could not help but be nervous. I am looking forward to the sugery now and I will update on my progress. "

" Good luck to you. I understand about having a doctor that just doesn't "get it" -with (whatever) ..and the need to find someone different. I hope the new people are giving you good advice and councel. Do they plan on leaving any part of the thyroid behind?

I will keep you in my prayers for good health. "

" I had TT surgery on 9/29. By 10/12/09, I was feeling well enough to go back to work. I was a bit tired, but I could do it. The first week was the hardest for me because I was not prepared for how much voice loss I would have. They bruised my vocal chord nerves a lot and cut some. I had nothing but a whisper for several days. By 8 days, I had some volume and some tone. The pain was not bad at all. I got Vicodin and stayed on it faithfully the first 5-6 days.

I am in isolation now after the Radioactive Iodine treatment. Just a little lonely, but it doesn't hurt.

You will be fine. Glad you changed doctors and they are going to remove it now. "

" They do not plan on leaving any for fear of cancer returning and the entire thyroid is full af nodules. I think my 13 year old son is looking forward to me having a whisper of a voice, 'cause he definantly helps to make my voice loud quit often. My old doc absolutely garanteed me I would never speak again she said my vocal cords were intertwined in it. my new docs, endo and surgen did scans and said that they were not and I had nothing to worry about. I just can't wait to get it over with so I will stop worring. Everyone here has helped me to know what to expect, way more than the docs could! Thank you all and I wish you all well "

" I want to tell you that I would NOT have a total Thyroid extraction...You must ask yourself if I take RAI will it leave my body or will it exist tearing up the good cells I still have. I must say that I personally am against a total thyroidetomy. Then they asked me to have RAI and no dought in my mind you will go through the same your body, mind, self will not be the same like a limboatimey forever. Please don't! It' will cause you forever heartache and you don't wan't to be thier. "
