I have just received my first bloodtests post TT surgery. I am still very hypothyroid (12) after a month of levothyroxine so have now doubled my dose (up to 200mcg).. is this about the average dose after a TT? Also, 2nd question ..my T4 is also elevated (18) which supposedly indicates hyperthyroid? I know the aim for the cancer suppression is to become hyperthyroid (TSH below 0.2), but the TSH reads hypothyroid, so the results are contadictory? Has anyone had this and what was the feedback? I vaguely remember hearing in the past about the T4 not converting to T3 in some cases- could this be the problem? Anyway, just thought someone may have some answers! My thyroglobulin (with no RAI) is 4.1 and we will now use this as my base value to check for possible recurrence of the cancer. Generally feeling OK, had really sore glands still until a day or two ago( surgery 7 wks ago), getting really tired in evenings and metavolism is non-existent- suppose will be the case until levels are stabilised (hypothyroid).

I had my thyroidectomy October 2007 and am still trying to get my synthroid adjusted. I'm at 112 synthroid right now. Doubling it seems a bit extreme, I hope you don't go to hyperthryoid. My tsh is at 0.31 right now and my T4 free at 1.7. The tsh is low but he likes to keep it that way to keep away cancer. I feel pretty good. I became hypo a bit at 100 so he just raised it to 112. I get checked in March again. It takes a while for some to get adjusted and others it seems easier. I did better with the synthroid then the generic. Josi
