Please weigh in. Can you please tell me what thyroid meds you are currently taking and how well it is working for you. Side effects?

If you were previously on something different and had to be switched to a new med, please feel free to add this, with any information you feel would be important regarding what didn't work out with the old med. Whatever you feel comfortable sharing is greatly appreciated.

I may be reaching a point soon where I have to consider switching meds.

As always, your insights are greatly appreciated.

" just to add...I have only been on levothyroxine, levoxyl...so I am not sure what the difference would be with synthroid or another brand.

I have been hypo for 3 years prior to surgery...when I first started on the meds for being hypo...I had some heart palps...some hot flashes...and a bit hyper...but that leveled off for a while... I did have the doc monitor this though... "

" I started out with a Primary care with Levothyroxine, and when I went to the specialist, an outstanding one...he is the one that switched me to the Brand Name Levoyxl. And when I went over into the military medical system, they continued to prescribe it for me because it is working...it is a pain though, I have to go to a drug store and pay for it instead of getting it at the military pharmacy, because they dont stock the Levoxyl..and its a long process just to get one prescription of it.. " Synthroid 88mcg. But what I am on has nothing to do with what you or anyone else is on or needs. Everyone is different. Everyone is on a certain dose for a reason and their are many reasons. Please don't try to compare your dose with anyone else's. There's a lot of fine tuning that has to be done to find the right dose for YOU, me, everyone. Take care. "

" Femlady,

I am not comparing my dose of meds to anyone elses. I am trying to find out what other people are taking and how they are doing on those particular meds because I may have to switch my meds soon.

In fact, I was just at my Endo days ago and his nurse told me he was going to be switching my meds, then, before I left, they told me he will be keeping me on the same med for now, but no explanation.

..Just as a footnote, I have never asked my doc to switch anything, but I could see where things seemed to be going. And yes, I do realize everyone is different. "
