Hello all
I'm a partner of someone who has had one testical removed. Thankfully he did not need chemo. We found out in December 2007. I was distraught, he was amazed (he has never smoked and is fit whereas his family have smoked and no cancer) not that that should mean anything. We have had sex since the operation but it seems he has lost his drive for it. We used to make love 3/4 times a week and now it's every 7/8 weeks if we're lucky. Has anyones else had this experience? Sex is by no means the be all and end all but it is strange when we were such a physical couple beforehand. We talk about it but I know he is not comfortable with this. Please any advice or help would be greatly apreciated. Lea82 x Posted on 07/25/08, 07:07 pm |

I am a testicular cancer survivor myself. I did have to go through the surgery and alot of treatments. My wife is very undersanding but even to this day my equipment has trouble working and it will never be like it was. So our sex life has suffered tremendously. I know thats not any hope for your situation but I am just being honest.

i'm a testicular cancer survivor, i was 16 when i had it. i had the testical removed by surgery, (my left one). going through this myself hes been/going through, all i can advise you to do is to keep on reassuring him that you still love him, even if he has onli got 1 testical left.
but obviously talking about it alot can be very upsetting, you just need to get the balance right. i hope this helps you and your partner. if you'd like to chat about anything then please dont be afraid to ask.

Thank you all for your advice. I always help as much I can but the doctors say it is a psycological thing rather than a physical. He still hasn't talked much about his experience and this has taken the affect. He tends to just not communicate his feelings.:(
I hope we can work through it but I do feel i'm being pushed away and a split has been discussed. I will see how we go over Christmas. Thank you Lea82 x

i had my right testi removed when i was 20. i agree it is psychological. i've been there. he may be afraid you dont see him the way you did before. they gave me a fake testical that feels so real it fools doctors. maybe that might help. it is the same thing a woman feels when she has breast cancer. i hope that helps. get him on this site so we can communicate w/him. it might help if he knows there are many of us like him.

lea My love has just went thru right testicle being removed he is starting chemo this week. We are suffering a little down time but I know it is stress. We both have slowed up but are still very affectionate. I guess i'm afraid to hurt him in my own sense sooo! We have been thru alot in ten years and I am going to stand by and know will get thru this. I know it maybe hard for you and him both but hopefully you will get some back and it will be better then ever.
