Long term side effects of Chemo- heart damage

I was on intensive chemotherapy treatment for 2 and a half years, I finished 3 and a half years ago.
I have been having a little bit of trouble with my heart, irregular beat, skipping a beat, and such. I have been having it tested and so far it seems that the chemo has done some damage to my heart, they have to do a bunch more test to find out the exact damage but there definitely has been some damage. I'm really scared and don't know what to do, the damage can lead to Congestive Heart Failure which can be very serious. I don't know if I have an actual question, but am looking for someone who is in a similar situation or who has some knowledge in the subject? Posted on 05/09/11, 07:02 am |

I was given doxorubicin when I had treatment. This is one of the chemo drugs that can cause heart damage like cardiomyopathy. I've had problems with heart pain and palpitations for the past few years so I'm just now getting it checked. Don't know for sure if there's a problem yet, but I'm rather worried. Hope it's nothing serious, for both of our sakes. x
