Has anyone tried to talk to their friends about what is going on with them and the friends tell you not to talk about it? My friends get really uncomfortable when i start talking about anxiety, so that makes me think I'm not normal...Who is though? Answer: no one.

" umm... i talk to my one friend every now and again about it.. and im really casual about it.. and it seems like she just doesnt know what to say... it turns uncomfterable.. then shes afraid to change the subject, so she just gets quiet. im not sure how to go about it myself.. it always turns akward, so im on the same boat with you.. " Guys don't like to talk about problems we can't fix. Talking about anxiety is hard. Like right now I'm sooo tired of being different. I talked to my Bff but he said I need to talk to my dad or shrink. The whole topic put him in the dumps all morning. "

" Some people just don't get it and don't want to hear about it. But some people really understand and want to help - it's awesome when you find people like that. I am really lucky with some of the friends I have. Don't let one bad reaction put you off though, eventually you'll find people who you can talk about things with - people with anxiety and depression tend to crop up all over the place. "

" The few people I have told about issues like that tend to get kind of awkward about it, but they will help me when I need it. It's something I try not to bring up too often because I don't want to seem like I'm trying to attract attention or something. Hang in there, a lot of us (including me) are in the same boat! "

" I've found that when I try to talk to my sister or mom about my anxiety, they just don't get it. They try to tell me why what makes me nervous isn't rational, but they don't seem to realize that I know it isn't rational. None of my anxiety is logical, but my body still responds to it and that is just something that I can't get them to understand. It does become very frustrating, and eventually I just give up trying to explain to them. "

" My friends are nice people. It's just that they'd rather talk about tv shows and whatnot than to talk to me about more serious issues. "
