I Don't Know If I Have TMJ

Ok, so it's been a long run in and out of doctors surgeries.... Depression and anxiety didn't help at the time, and I was fearing that my constant - as a neurologist said - tension headaches, were actually something more serious...
Sometimes I get burning or itching 'nervous' sensations on the right side of my face near my lip, and it only happens once in a while but it feels as if there is something there most of the time... I get leaking (pure liquid) from the left nasal passage, although my friend said she gets tension headaches and has a narrow passage on that side, so her nose leaks too - could it be sinus blockage?? Apparently you get a bunged up nose on the side of your tension headache.... Trouble is, it's only on one side - I've also been to a new dentist, and as they were doing a regular checkup she said that she found 'lines' of flesh running along inside my mouth where my teeth had been biting them, so she sent in for a night guard - I haven't got it yet, but teeth grinding could explain some of it... I have shoulder pain (I play guitar constantly and I am left handed, so, doesn't help) constantly, and a bruisy pain in muscles and on the side of my headaches - but the underneath pain is there all the time... Now I am hearing 'bubbles' in my ear, and crunching, and also occasional popping... it's making my life - lets put it this way - less enjoyable then it could be, and I've lived without knowing what it is for so long that I just got on with it. but I feel actually ill, ill, and I am not suprised if the ear infections in the past were caused by it. It runs me down, I hate sleep - and I hate the idea of having conflicts with myself daily to just try to 'enjoy' sleep... I see sleep as a chore and a nescessity, but I hate being in that dark room by myself, and waking up with sore muscles again... I found a lump on my neck, which is positioned where the muscles would run along the neck on the other side but it's more pronounced - this is why i am worried really... i am going in for a brain scan soon, to put my mind at rest (if lol), but now I found this lump-ish thing i don't know what to think... maybe that's why ifeel so lethargic all the time... I dunno... Could you give me any advice and do you think that it's TMJ??? It's just the lump though.... i hope it's not related - or even unrelated, as long as it's harmless... HI---Is the crunching you hear and popping directly from your ear, or in your jaw joint? Does it happen when you eat as well? As far as the lump on your neck, could it be an enlarged lymph node? I would just go to your general doc. soon and get that checked out as well. True tmd syptoms are clicking and popping in the tmj joint, dizziness, anxiety, inability to sleep well, joint (tmj) pain when eating, muscular spasms that can be debilitating from the upper back to the face... ear pain,
those are just a few , I'm afraid. See how you do w-the nightguard. What type of guard did they explain it would be? If you don't get relief from it or it hurts in any way, or it feels like it's not adjusted correctly, get in asap and let them know. Good luck w-everything..

Thankyou for your reply... yeah, well I had another appt recently, and the local neurologist in my hometown did an examination (this is the one prior to brain scan), and said that he could feel my jaw click when he pressed down hard on it...
Some days are better than others - some days I feel as if I have horrendous jaw ache and ear ache, and other days just headaches and facial soreness, but most of the time the muscular-type headaches or general headaches are just there.... It's just feeling less than well which gets to me - I feel too full of nervous energy all the time, like 'something ELSE needs to be done' even if I'm not doing anything I feel like a wound up toy... It is distracting as well, because i often get, what you said - dizziness but I mistaken it for low-blood sugar levels, so it might just be that and I need to eat more! I hope it goes away soon... P.s, do you ever kiss someone and find you can't really move your mouth properly and it's uncomfortable?!? lol

Sooooo, how did your tests turn out? Sounds like TMJ to me.I think you are one of us. There is lots of good advice on this site. just keep asking questions and eventually someone will respond that has been through the same thing.
As far as the kissing goes...that's a new one for me. My kisser still works. ha!
