HI there
I have TMJ and I have bite splint that I wear at night but it gotten worst because when I open and close my jaw. on my left side, my jaw feel like there is pressure and there is some resistance me closing my jaw and my jaw made a new sound last week, when i chew, it makes this chrunchy now and i hear it when I chew. When its really bad, I am more confortable with my jaw open when I sleep because there is no pressure but if sleep with my mouth open i feel pressure. when i talk or chew i feel like my left jaw ball thing is going in my ear. I am going to neroligst but i think thats not enought. i am getting concerted. what would do? thanks Posted on 11/04/09, 07:11 pm |

Well, your seeing a dentist and a Neurologist which is good, and it's best to have a "team" to help you. If you are using a traditional full coverage splint, it's possible that it is just giving you a better surface to clench on, as opposed to just grinding your teeth. When you are clenching night after night, your jaw structures will get injured and sometimes the joint becomes displaced and causes the noises you hear. You should either go back to your dentist and tell him the splint isn't working and maybe he will have another option, or you could try an NTI which may really be helpful and is only a few hundred. www.headacheprevention.com I know this crap gets expensive. Hang in there

HI----there are several specialists' out East that you could consult with, in my opinion, all would be great for an opinion.
1. Dr. Joe Gulak, Middletown? NY 2. Dr. Peter Ferro, NY, NY 3. Dr. Ramin Mehregan, Mass. They are all neuromuscular dentists, and extremely experienced in treating tmjd, also they belong to the ICCMO, and practice Functional Jaw Orthodontics. In my opinion, they are the guys to see. Good Luck!! J.
