A friend of ours mentioned a device similar to a hearing aid that my husband can wear and it will play his words back to him, so he can hear himself. It is supposed to stop stuttering and we are looking for it but can't remember what it is called. Does anyone know?

" One name for the device is a "fluency device" such as the product available at www.speecheasy.com. The device also goes by other names and is offered by other companies. "

" Unfortunately, this device costs around $5000.00. Getting an insurance company to pay is almost impossible. Services like Vocational Rehabilitation can help with the cost.--Basically, this device is a really small DELAYED AUDITORY FEEDBACK system. The stutterer will hear his/her voice in their ear with a very small delay. It is kind of like the fluency that stutterers have when they read in unison with someone else. This device does work for a lot of stutterers but not all. I have used one before and was really pleased with the results. "
