Three years ago, I was a patient at UC Davis, Sacramento. I am a brain aneurysm survivor. I've had my ups and downs over the last three years but have now managed to recover from this brain injury. Because of what happened to my life, I started journaling my experience and my day to day life experience. I started writing and ended up with My Story: My Life After Brain Aneurysm.

Life after brain aneurysm was extremely difficult. No paper, manual, or handbooks can ever explain what a patient and family go through in coping with the after effects of the disease. At that time, I had low self-esteem as I dealt with memory loss, physical pains, and other health issues. Depression would become extreme, urging me to take my life. I want everyone to know that patients, like me, who survive a brain injury, do not lead a normal life right away. We have to go through steps in recovery and healing. However, with therapy, support, encouragement, understanding and love from those around us, we can make it and live in peace, happiness and love.

My Story: My Life After Brain Aneurysm may be of interest to readers who are interested in real-life accounts of individuals' ordeal and triumph over the pains of brain illness.

I believe in miracles. I believe in God. Our life here on earth has a purpose, let us not waste it but embrace it. Not everyone survives a brain aneurysm. I am one of the lucky ones. I am thankful for the gift of life and this is the reason that I decided to share my story.

God bless you,
Teodora Shinn
