Hey all

I have what my dr says is ice pick headaches or primary stabbing headaches and had a stroke 6 years ago.

In the last couple of days they have increased in intensity so I called my neuro and was kind of blown off.

Ever since my stroke if I get an intense pain or dizziness I can't help thinking that something is wrong. Is that wrong? The dr wants me to take indocin but i am hesitant. IT is a NSAID and i already have problems with my stomach and asprin.

I was wondering if anyone else experiences these types of headaches?

Also do any of you feel like you need a daily nap?

" Dunno indocin, so I cannot discuss it. If the doctors are blowing you off & you are IN PAIN, simply see another doctor or specialist. Eventually you will find one you TRUST who will give you some answers. "Loyalty" is sometimes useless. If the Dr. is useless find a good one!! Don't feel SORRY for the Doctor; some are lame. "

" Headaches? MY stroke was soon to be 3 years ago and I too have icepick headachs.I found a young Nuerologist, granted he doesn't know everything, but he's willing to try to find it out and help!He did a MRI and then gave me naproxin for migrains. It helped some. Because the stroke did nerve damage he now has me on"Gabaten".I hope Things get better for you! "

" indimae- glad to see someone with the same experiences. Last week my head was hurting alot so I dug out my indocin and took some. I had the worst stomach pain that night. Never again.

I have taken naprosyn so maybe I will ask for an rx. My dr's nurse wasn't much help. Guess I will wait until I go back to see her. "

" I too have headaches, not stabbing ones but dull back of my head ones all the time. Vicodin was helping, I only took it when the pain got bad. I also am very tired. Since I am still not back to work, my stoke happened April of this year. I usually take a nap everyday. My neoro. doctor said this is normal. She said many people suffer from fatigue after a stroke.
